Picking a favorite tutorial from the Moda Bake Shop blog is too tough, so I’ll just remind you to head over there any time you have too much fabric and not quite enough inspiration.

Retrosaria

Rosa Pomar’s blog may be In Portuguese, but, scroll through the “Categorias” until you find a word that’s the same in many languages: Quilting. Then click to browse her quilting archives – time well spent, particularly during the season when we seem to have so little!

Baby Stripes
When I post a quilt I find on flickr, I rarely post the caption. But check out what Kelly Sue has to say about this photo:

“Celia collects pictures of her quilts with the babies for whom they were made. He looks like he was photoshopped on there, doesn’t he? He wasn’t. I turned down the highlights, though, and I think that’s what caused that effect.”
SUCH a good idea! Quilting historians love to remind us of how important documentation is, and, for baby quilts, it’s extra important! Since baby quilts often travel a lot and get played with and dragged around (that’s the point, isn’t it?) be sure to get an image of any baby quilt you make or receive while it’s in its prime. Ideally, include the child – you’ll always treasure that snapshot of a little one with his or her first heirloom.

Aw, don’t be sad! Make this quilt instead!

I can’t say “WANT!” in enough languages to express my love for this quilt. Big thanks to Aneela for making it available.

Pattern Pressies
If you’re running out of time to whip up handmade gifts this year, may I suggest patterns for the quilter in your life?
Who wouldn’t want to sew this sweet pattern from kimsbigadventure?

The jury may still be out on the etiquette of sending pdf patterns, but paper patterns are still readily available, and the shipping is far more inexpensive than a queen-sized blanket!
