Baby Stripes

Filed under: baby, flickr — jennicakes @ 6:32 pm

When I post a quilt I find on flickr, I rarely post the caption. But check out what Kelly Sue has to say about this photo:

“Celia collects pictures of her quilts with the babies for whom they were made. He looks like he was photoshopped on there, doesn’t he? He wasn’t. I turned down the highlights, though, and I think that’s what caused that effect.”

SUCH a good idea! Quilting historians love to remind us of how important documentation is, and, for baby quilts, it’s extra important! Since baby quilts often travel a lot and get played with and dragged around (that’s the point, isn’t it?) be sure to get an image of any baby quilt you make or receive while it’s in its prime. Ideally, include the child – you’ll always treasure that snapshot of a little one with his or her first heirloom.
