A Quilt A Day

Quilting for two.

How fabulous is this orange and pink quilt by leslieschmidt4? So fabulous I dragged myself away from tvtropes.org to blog about it. (Do not even click that link, unless you have literally nothing else to do to day. Like, even your eating and peeing schedule will be in jeopardy. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.)

ANYWAY.

Using analogous colors is such a great way to make a bold statement that’s still really pleasing to the eye. Note how it works in the bedroom – gorgeously bold, but fairly calming, too.

Analogous colors will work in a bunch of different patchwork configurations, but I think the particular genius of this quilt is the way it’s split down the middle. It’s a strong graphic statement, and it works in such beautiful harmony that I’m a little surprised I haven’t seen more quilts like this. (Maybe I’m sheltered?)

To me, this would be a perfect gift for a couple – two different, but complimentary and equal halves that would look great on their own, but are even more striking when joined. Hugely symbolic, and, as I’ve already mentioned, totally gorgeous.
